Fresh Charges For Chiyangwa
Suspected serial fraudster Mike Harris Chiyangwa was back in court over the weekend facing armed robbery charges.
Chiyangwa together with Conwell Kasambarare were not asked to plead when they appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi.
Allegations are that on January 14 at around 1am, the duo which was driving an unregistered Toyota Wish approached the security guard at Petzim Service Station in Highfield where they reportedly inquired from the security guard if there was fuel and suddenly one of the two withdrew an unidentified pistol and pointed it at the guard ordering him to comply.
It is alleged that they force-marched the guards and the service station officers and they opened the door using iron bars and ransacked the office and failed to break the safe.
They stole a cellphone from the security before proceeding to the Exide shop where they used iron bars to force open the shop door and stole fifteen batteries and fled leaving the guards tied both hands and legs.
The property stolen is valued at US$1279 and six batteries valued at US$480 were recovered.
The duo was remanded in custody and told to approach the High Court for bail considerations.-H Metro
